This is it. The final long weekend of the summer and the last weekend for the store. Thank you to all of our customers for coming in and supporting us through this past summer. Our staff has been some of the best we’ve ever had. Jodie, who’s been with us the longest has been a real treasure. I’m not allowed to say anything about her dating habits but for the single guys out there she’s still available. Her twin sister Jeanette has been fantastic. Even when she’s been arguing with her sister, whoever heard of siblings arguing, she’s still been a great employee and wonderful with the customers. Alyssa always has a smile on her face and makes sure that Jodie and Jeanette don’t kill each other. They have been the threesome who have harassed and abused pure Justin on a daily basis. I did worn Justin before he started work that he would be outnumbered but he persevered and I believe he won the war. Even with having to watch Big Brother with the three of them he did not become addicted to it and was even able to make at least a few of the group decisions. Sarah came to us as a full time teacher who wanted something simple to do for a few hours a week to keep her from getting bored. Well that certainly isn’t going to be a problem anymore. Congratulations to Sarah who will become a first time mother in the spring. You will be a wonderful mother. The only problem is your love of napping. Get as much in as you can in the next few months because from what I know of babies they seem to always want to do the opposite of what you want. Callie and Kaleigh were our first timers. This was their first summer job and they can be proud that they survived and did well. I always had a problem with their names and constantly got them mixed up but I really do know who is who.

This week’s question:  You'll have to wait for next year for your next question.

THE WOOD BOX

Yard sales are fascinating. People spend $20 on gas, driving air conditioned cars, to stand in the sun and argue about getting a $4 lamp for $3.25

Gimli Theatre is showing ““SALT” Friday-Thursday at 7:30 pm with another 9:30pm show Friday & Saturday.

WHAT, NO TIP? The manager of the Waffle House in Springfield, Mo., says three women came into the restaurant around 6:15 a.m., dined, and then ran when they were handed their bill for $39.31. When the manager called police, he said he had a lead as to the women's identities: two of them had left their purses behind when they ran, and he had locked them in his office. Before police arrived, the manager says, one of the women returned and "demanded" he turn the purses over to her, but he refused. Police didn't release the identities of the women, but noted both purses contained paycheck stubs -- the suspects are apparently employed at another Waffle House. (Springfield News-Leader)

Last weekend, we revitalized Family Bocci Ball. 32 Team members including the Spartans, Steelers, Raiders, Blue Bombers, Bushudos, Vikings, Tiger Cats & Rough Riders, battled for top positions. After 3 games we played off, individuals played in the final -Mike (B bay), Kyle (D bay), Cheryl (C Bay) & Terri (C Bay).   1st & 2nd place winners Terri & Mike took home a set of Bocci balls as prizes. A lot of fun while meeting people from the park.  Thanks for running a fun event - Crystal & Mike – B Bay & Cheryl. Good job!!

Halloween in August was again a huge success.   The field had the most kids, adults and dogs in costume but the bays saw 170-200 Trick or Treaters.    The field had many great costumes where we judged for Scariest/Spookiest, Most Creative/Original and Funniest - just to mention a few, we had Hard Rockers, Skeltons, Jack from Pirates of the Carribean, Biance, Garfild, Orphan, a Kitchen Chef, Were wolf, Frankenstein & his Bride, Beetle Juice and a Bus driver with his insane passenger.   What a lot of fun!!   Every contestant received a bag of treats and were off to trick or treat in the bays.   The kids got a lot of candy and had a great time checking out all the decorated trailer sites.     In the afternoon trailer sites were decorated and judging beginning at 3pm. Our winners for the Scariest and Spookiest were C4 Monster Mash (they did a great job with a walk through display and awesome makeup and costumes), B50 for the Most Creative, A32 for the Most Original (you had to notice the fire pit and family of crows on top of the gazebo) and an Honorable Mention to A9.   Also nice to see many of the new families who decorated their lots just for Halloween. Thanks to the Murowski’s and B-Bay friends and judges for taking on this event – you guys did great!!.

Time to Recycle
Did you enjoy Mardi Gras?   Everyone on the route received a ton of beads.   Pick out your favorite few sets of beads and recycle the rest for next year.   We’ll have a blue bin at the Horseshoe Tournament, Steak Dinner & Family Olympic’s to recycle the beads.    We’re also recycling all the water bottles used at events – use the blue bin in the field. As well we’ve decided to make some money off all our Beer drinkers during the Steak Dinner and Dance.....instead of throwing the beer cans away, we’re going to put the money we collect from beer cans towards the cost of “glow bracelets” we give out to the kids during fireworks.   Look for the blue bin labeled “BEER CAN RECYCLING”
